now let's see, we've got 3 witnesses who describe 3 slightly different people. know how to figure it out the scientific way? FINGERPRINT THE DAMN HELMET! inside and out! plus, get the inside tested for DNA. then? get the gloves tested! ;) if you didn't know, fingerprints stay INSIDE gloves for days on end, depending on the material the inner surfaces of the glove are made of. also, shed skin cells on the inside of the gloves could have DNA in them. also, get the coat tested. there could be trace evidence that is also on the perp's clothes. say, dog n cat hairs, pollen from various plants, anything the coat brushed up against might have touched the perp's pants legs too, or transferred off the coat onto the pants.

eyewitness testimony is often shitty at best and worthless as a wooden-nickel at worst. the convenience store should have video surveillance as well as a height measuring sticker on either the left or right frame of the doorway.

my guess about the problem with the shirt color is this. the cafe waiter and the girl in the department store BOTH saw the perp THROUGH GLASS! glass is hardly ever entirely transparent or optically neutral (no reflection or refraction of light moving through the glass). most stores tint or film or have their glass reflective on the inside, outside, or both. this keeps the sun from shining hard and heating up the inside of the store, or letting folks 'on the street' tell what the employees are doing. say they're by themselves, or opening a cash-register drawer, or putting extra money into the safe under the countertop, or other reasons. these types of glass often TINT the light coming through them somehow and can change the color of objects you see through the glass.

as to the height problem, it is all based on the observers' perspectives. say, you walk UP into the department store because the ground floor is raised say... five or six steps from the sidewalk outside. but the cafe is one you walk DOWN into a few steps because of the opposite reason from the department store. that would screw up the guy's apparent height from the girl or the waiter's perspectives.

i think... the best solution is: all THREE of them are in on it. one robbed the store, the other two were supposed to be decoys for anybody witnessing the crime or even a foot pursuit by the cops. remember, Takagi and Chiba lost sight of the perp MORE THAN ONCE. so at any time they could have been chasing one of the decoys. the old man in the park was right, he got knocked over by a woman. the waiter and the girl in the department store were both right also. but those two folks saw the school-teacher and the musician.

who actually robbed the store, i've no clue. but if you can attach all 3 folks to 'the plot' you've got a conspiracy to commit burglary/armed robbery charge, and an accessory after the fact charge.

well the dusting and lifting part does take a bit of time, for a full face motorcycle helmet with visor like that... i would guess maybe 2 hours at the max to get the whole outside. the chin-strap and any inner surfaces would not be easy, fabrics are a bitchkitty to get prints off of. plus the police would want to send the whole helmet into a lab so the conditions would be as perfect as possible. now, as to finding hair samples inside the helmet? oh god sometimes that can take hours on end with powerful lights, tiny tweezers, magnifying lenses, fiber-optic camera probes... i've even seen one setup that attached an itty bitty camera to a set of long tweezers. the camera can be plugged into a pair of VR goggles or an external monitor. the camera helps to guide the tweezer tips along whatever surface you're looking to pick stuff up from.

really? conspiracies with multiple plotting parties would seem to be a logical... 'step up' for this show. say, more than one person actively tried to kill Guy A... but Guy B's plot interferes with Guy C's plot, and they both keep stumbling over Guy D's plot... therefore messing everything up and accidentally killing the Guy A in a totally different way than B , C, or D intended. oh, kinda like that previous episode where a 50 something year old actor got konked on the head by 3? or 4? people in a row. but he finally dies of a heart-attack because his heart-meds had been replaced with antacids.

Shiratori had some cheasy lines, but hes a gentleman and looks like he can be a loving husband. The only thing is that the writers ✍️ wanted to torture him. And Takagi was happy to hear that sato was waiting for him. LoL. I love that Shinichi wanted to help out. A little unfair but ok lol.

The conflicting witness reports are probably really simple. Dude in the blue sweater should be the culprit.
The old man thought it was a women because of some stuff from his drag outfit. The girl thought he was wearing something green because the window had a yellow tint. And the man had sunglasses on making the blue appear black as well as standing a bit higher than the walkway.
